“These two teams are going to be very familiar with each other,” said Trinity Head Coach Renee Hayes.
The matchup follows exams for both schools and Trinity’s heart-breaking loss to High Point Andrews Jan. 8.
Trinity led the first quarter, 2-12, but suffered two injuries early in the second. Despite 3-pointers from Lady Bulldogs Logan Terry and Christy Campbell, the Red Raiders climbed ahead by one point at the half, 25-24.
Campbell’s layup put Trinity back in the lead and Courtney Cox added a 3-pointer. Both teams held each other to low scores in the third, with Trinity leading 27-29.
Andrews and Trinity leapfrogged each other in the final quarter and tied in the last minute at 42-42. With two seconds on the clock, the Red Raiders sank the foul shot to win, 43-42.
Hayes said of her team, “They did everything I asked them to do, as hard as they possibly could.”
Terry led the scoring with 15 points. Campbell contributed 9 and Cox, 8.
