‘Making dreams come true’ is the theme of the 2009 Archdale-Trinity Cheer Fund campaign.

The number of names submitted by Archdale-Trinity attendance area guidance counselors has increased dramatically. The increased numbers make the SerCo Club more committed to making dreams come true, as they have for 23 years.

“We are getting swamped by the schools with just beaucoup names,” said Stan Byrd Jr. “This whole economic downturn that we have has affected a lot of people.

“With the help of the community we will be able to reach out and help as many as we can.”

The Cheer Fund gives clothing, food and toys to local families during the holiday. However, the benefits of the donations extend throughout the year. Donations feed the needy and pay for medical equipment as well as fund the SerCo Club’s annual senior citizens’ banquet.

Donations come from individuals and businesses. Two businesses have already stepped up.

Greg Byerly, owner of Carter Brothers, will have a box near the entrance of the restaurant to accept donations of new toys, books, games, bicycles, tricycles or Big Wheels.

Archdale Drug will donate $1 per prescription filled on Monday, Dec. 7, to the Cheer Fund.

Contributors have several options to help the club meet its $25,000 goal. Checks should made to Archdale-Trinity Cheer Fund and may be mailed to P.O. Box 4956, Archdale, NC 27263, or dropped off at Stan Byrd Realtors office, 10468 N. Main St., Suite B, at Archdale Drug or given to a SerCo Club member. All donations are tax deductible.

For more information about the Cheer Fund or SerCo Club, call 442-1268.

Contributors to the Cheer Fund are published weekly in the Archdale-Trinity News. If an error is found, call the above number and a correction will be made.
