Quakerfest Oct. 31

Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting will hold Quakerfest, a Halloween carnival and trick or treating alternative, from

6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31.

The event includes games, candy and free hot dogs.

Trunk or treat Oct. 31

Old Union United Methodist Church will have a free trunk or treat for children ages 13 and under and a hot dog meal from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31.

The menu includes hot dogs, potato chips and a drink. Take-outs plates will be available.

GED classes at Mt. Vernon

Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church will offer free GED classes, in cooperation with Randolph Community College, on Monday, Oct. 26.

Classes will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, Oct. 26 through Dec. 14.

An instructor will work with students to plan a program of study to meet individual needs and goals. Students will work at their own pace.

Books will be provided for classroom use.

Fall festival Oct. 24

Colonial Baptist Church will hold its fall festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24.

The day includes games, inflatables, face painting, hot dogs and snow cones. All events and food are free.

Children’s festival Oct. 24

First Baptist Church of Archdale will hold their children’s festival from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24.

The church’s Baptist Men will hold their annual barbecue sale from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Fish fry Oct. 24

Gospel Baptist Church will hold a fish fry to benefit its missions team from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24.

The menu includes flounder, slaw, potatoes, hushpuppies, tea and dessert.

Tickets are $7 for adults. Children ages 5 and under eat free (dine in only). Take-out plates are available. Call 434-3861 to place an order for pickup.

Centenary United Methodist Church will hold a “pumpkin party” featuring an outdoor viewing of “It’s a Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24.

Other events include a free hot dog dinner, magic show, bake sale, face painting and carnival games.

Garage sale Oct. 17

Archdale First Church of God will hold a garage sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17.

All proceeds from the sale will be given to Children’s International Lifeline in Haiti, a mission outreach that provides solid Bible teaching, food, clothing, medical supplies and facilities for education assistance for the underprivileged children and their families.

Country breakfast Oct. 17

Hopewell United Methodist Church will hold a country breakfast buffet from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17.

The menu includes eggs, grits, biscuits, gravy, pancakes, bacon, sausage, ham and a choice of beverage.

The cost is $7 for adults, $3 for ages 6-12 and free for children 5 and under.

Proceeds will benefit the church’s building fund. The church is at 4540 Hopewell Church Road in Trinity.
