Tina Crutchfield of Asheboro has a mission. As a sworn member of VISTA, she will coordinate a capital campaign for the Randolph County Senior Adult Association to build an activity center on Old Cox Road, near the zoo.

VISTA is an AmeriCorps service program dedicated to fighting poverty in the United States.

Crutchfield has been an active volunteer in the community for the past five years. A graduate of Colorado Technical University, she serves as treasurer for United Way of Randolph County. In her new role as a VISTA member, one of her first projects will be to find funding through donations.

According to Candie Rudzinski, executive director of the Association, “Crutchfield’s knowledge of our community and her experience with coordinating funds for profit and not-for profit organizations is a huge asset for Randolph County seniors as we work to help individuals over the age of 60 to live with independence and dignity.”

Crutchfield will spend a year as a VISTA member with the Association.

For 40 years, VISTA has been helping bring communities and individuals out of poverty. Today, nearly 7,000 VISTA members serve in hundreds of nonprofit organizations and public agencies throughout the country – working to fight illiteracy, improve health services, create businesses, increase housing opportunities or bridge the digital divide.
